Syndactyly

Syndactyly is a condition in which a baby’s fingers are fused or webbed at birth. In around half of all children, syndactyly affects both hands (bilateral). The fingertips are the most commonly affected by syndactyly. It can also affect the fingers, however this is less common. Syndactyly can affect any two or more fingers, however the middle and ring fingers are the most typically affected. A webbing-like flap of skin could connect the fingers. In some situations, the fused digits resemble a single finger.
